LIVE BAIT - EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Live bait can make the difference between and o-k fishing trip and an excellent fishing
trip.  Not to say that you can't catch some great fish on dead bait or lures, but your
chances for big fish and big numbers go up considerably when using live bait.  Now, that
doesn't mean every time you use live bait your going to catch a record fish or that your
going to "slay 'em", it just means that over time live bait will always outfish dead.
With that being said, during the spring and summer we can usually catch live bait in the
morning before we head off-shore and it shouldn't take more than an hour, sometimes
less, sometimes more.  However there are times that live bait is hard to come by (winter)
and during those times I recommend purchasing live bait from one of the live bait vendors
that stay out all night long to catch goggle-eyes and other live baits.   Also, if you don't
want to waste any time or take any chances, you can purchase live bait any time of the
year, you just need to give me advance warning that you'd like to do so and I will make
arrangements for a live bait boat to meet us.
Goggle-eyes are the premium live bait among live baits.  They are durable and a very active
bait and they are mostly caught at night, offshore.  For these reasons google-eyes are very
expensive, but usually worth every penny.  If you want to catch big fish, goggle-eyes will
give you the best chance.  The current going rate for goggle-eyes is $80 - $100 per dozen
(cash only) and they must be ordered the day before your charter to ensure availability.  If
you would like to purchase goggle-eyes please let me know prior to your charter and I will
make the proper arrangements.

***Greenies (Threadfin Herring) have now shown up, so until
next winter we can catch our bait (no need to purchase).***
